As one of the flagbearers of the football fan culture in the NE region, Highlander Brigade has always sought of opportunity to showcase the footballing talent present in the country. Based on such ideas, this football tournament came to life in reverence of the lost tales of Dr. T. Ao and G. Sangma, the pioneers of football in North East and across mainland India.
