For months Supporters of NorthEast United FC have been talking warily about the Indian signings of the club. The club ended their apprehensions by announcing the signing of experienced Right-back Ashutosh Mehta on their Social media handles today.
Ashutosh started his Career with famed Mumbai FC and went on to play for a host of clubs including ISL clubs FC Pune City, Mumbai city FC and ATK in his decade long career so far. Ashutosh Joins NEUFC on the back of a title winning I-league campaign with Mohun Bagan. He has a amicable relationship with NEUFC's head of academy and assistant coach Khalid Jamil since their Mumbai FC days. He played under the tutelage of Khalid Jamil in Aizawl FC as well when the people's club won the I-league title in 2016-17 season. After 3 years the duo will reunite again in NEUFC's colours this year. After having shined throughout the campaign in Mohun Bagan's I-league triumph last season, Ashutosh will a prized possession for Gerard Nus's arsenal.
We are elated to have the skilled right-back with us this season and welcome him to the Highlands. Having two I-league champions title under his belt, we hope that he can produce a similar result for us as well this year in the ISL.
